Trafford Wharf

Supplying Trafford Wharf with an energy-saving upgrade to its 150w globes may have been a straightforward task, but we were truly honoured to re-light such a vibrant and iconic site, breathing new life into this remarkable waterfront destination.

Trafford Wharf Case Study

Supplying Trafford Wharf with an energy-efficient lighting solution was a straightforward task, but we were truly honoured to re-light such an iconic and vibrant area. Trafford Wharf is part of a unique landscape where modern architecture meets historic structures, and it was a privilege to enhance this location with lighting that reflects its remarkable character.

We replaced the previous 150w globes with 150 of our Version 1 luminaires, each carefully installed to provide a cleaner, whiter, and more directional light. This new lighting solution not only reduces energy consumption but also brings a crisp, contemporary aesthetic to the Wharf, creating a visual harmony that complements the surrounding scenery. The upgraded luminaires have transformed the experience of Trafford Wharf, making it safer and more visually striking for residents and visitors alike.

The lighting at Trafford Wharf now accentuates several of the area's most recognisable landmarks, including the Lowry Footbridge, the Imperial War Museum North, and the BBC Media City. These iconic structures, each significant in their own right, are set against the backdrop of the former Manchester Ship Canal, an area rich with history and urban redevelopment. The enhanced lighting brings a new dimension to the waterfront, illuminating the architectural beauty of these sites while highlighting the heritage and modernity that define the Wharf.

In addition to its architectural and historical significance, Trafford Wharf has become a centre of leisure and enterprise. By upgrading the lighting, we’ve not only contributed to a safer, more inviting environment but also helped to create a visual experience that draws people in, from evening strolls along the waterfront to gatherings at the many cultural sites nearby. This project embodies our dedication to designing sustainable lighting solutions that not only meet practical needs but also elevate the spaces in which we work.

Trafford Wharf now shines as a vibrant blend of past and present, tradition and innovation, and we are proud to have played a part in illuminating a location that is central to Manchester’s heritage and future.
